While the other components of Norton Utilities Ultimate appear to provide some basic cleanup operations (and work), the Drive Scrubber capability (at least in my case) doesn't work as advertised. I even had one representative suggest that I needed to manually delete the files from the disk storage after I ran the Drive Scrubber. While it appears they are well-versed with the antivirus/firewall products, many of the support folks were struggling to give any guidance on Norton Utilities. I was also surprised at how limited the Norton support staff's knowledge is of Norton Utilities. Unfortunately, my proposal for performing whatever diagnostics needed to be done under their direction was denied by the CSR, which prevented me from getting additional support. Sorry, I'm not going to get on that path for two reasons: 1) I have far too much information on my computer and I do not wish to expose that information to a third party (a simple mistype using the drive scrubber tool could literally nuke the data on the wrong drive), and 2) I have sufficient computer awareness and can easily follow their instructions on whatever diagnosis path they want to pursue. Unfortunately, we hit an impasse at the point where they indicated they could not do further diagnosis without patching in remotely to my computer. ![]() I contacted Norton support several times and was unable to get the problem resolved. ![]() (FYI, all of the same symptoms occur on two different computers) The progress timeline projects a run time (assuming based on type of device and storage capacity) of several minutes, then proceeds to run over 20-30 minutes (for 4 GB flash drive). In the 10% where it does work, it runs extremely slowly. 90% of the time it comes back immediately after doing nothing. Unfortunately, Drive Scrubber works only about 10% of the time. ![]() ![]() Although I have used most of the features satisfactorily and they make PC cleanup easy, the Drive Scrubber feature (the primary reason for my purchasing this program) leaves a lot to be desired.
